Heritage Route

A submission is currently awaiting sign-off on approved funding  from Wicklow County Council.

The Heritage Route, which has the support of Wicklow Tourism and the Heritage Officer in Wicklow County Council, is a route designed to help and encourage tourists and locals alike visit places of historical interest in the Ballynagran Energy+ area.

However repairs to this path are planned as in places it really is very unsuitable for walking after any kind of inclement weather as you can see from the photos below.

As you can see from the attached photos these repairs are absolutely necessary.

So from just even a safety point of view, it is important that these repairs go ahead.

Details available of the proposed improvements are as follows.

Starting from the car park at Deputy’s Pass and going up through the National Parks part of the forest the walkway will then veer to the North East on to the original old coach road and come out at Ballymanus Lane. This area is steeped in history hence the title of the walk.
