Visit a Local Nearly Zero Energy Building – 13th-15th Nov 2015

Please take the time to visit a nearly zero energy or low energy building in Wicklow or elsewhere in Ireland from 13th – 15th November 2015 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) during the NZEB Open Doors Ireland 2015 event.

During this weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to visit some of the best examples of low or nearly zero energy houses and public/ commercial buildings in Ireland.

The NZEB Open Doors Ireland event will overlap with the International Passive House Days and the NZEB organisers are working with the Passive House Association of Ireland to jointly promote both events.

Booking places for the visits will be available on their website Nearly Zero Energy Buildings from mid October 2015.

As NZEB Open Doors is seen as playing an important national role in promoting the NZEB standard in Ireland in a practical and tangible way SEAI will be supporting the 2015 NZEB Open Doors campaign.

Outstanding Houses – Well Worth Visiting

In Our Area – Just west of The Beehive – View 14th November 2015 14:00 to 16:00

The nearest NZEB house is that of Christian Osthoff, an active member of the Ballynagran Energy ⁺ Plus Group. Details of this house are available here    Christian’s House 

Christian Ostoff’s House – Near the Beehive, Wicklow. Completed in Spring 2014.

Take southbound N11 Exit 18, go back across the motorway and follow the above map (click ?) .

Christian’s house will be available to view on : Saturday, 14 November, 2015 – 14:00 to 16:00

Self built and designed timber frame house – to the passive house standard

Irish grown cedar cladding, locally grown spruce beams, cellulose insulation in walls and roof

solar hot water, solar PV, wood burning boiler stove, HRV, triple glazed alu-clad windows and airtightness membrane

This house is currently believed to be the most airtight house in Ireland at 0.11.

For visitors – sorry no children under 12 are allowed.

You will get an email confimation of your booking.

That site will then send you with a second reminder email two days before the event confirming the exact address and how to find the building.

The Eco Village in Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary will arrange multiple visits to several houses together.
